Greenhill the Lodge Facilities and Features


Greenhill The Lodge is an opulent and tranquil retreat located in the heart of Hawke's Bay wine country, a region with some of the highest sunshine hours in New Zealand.

Greenhill The Lodge is only fifteen minutes drive to either Havelock North or Hastings, and a comfortable two hour drive from Taupo and one hour flight from either Auckland or Wellington.

Queen Elizabeth, the Queen Mother stayed in the homestead during her tour of New Zealand in 1958.

Everything about Greenhill is gracious and majestic. Set amongst 30 acres of picturesque park-like grounds, Greenhill enjoys panoramic views of the surrounding countryside.

Guest facilities include a swimming pool, spa pool, fully equipped gymnasium, petanque piste, and croquet lawn and helicopter access.

Greenhill's modern facilities will ensure you enjoy your stay in privacy and comfort. All guest accommodation is fully air conditioned. Dining facilities are available exclusively to lodge guests.

Greenhill - The Lodge

The large entrance hall features exquisite hand painted lead lights and is graced with wooden panels and elegant carved archways.

The guests' sitting room has a large log fire to ensure warmth in the winter months. Here guests may relax and enjoy the outlook into the garden.

The main dining room is a room of grand proportions with a great deal of charm. 

The guest wing of the house contains five luxuriously appointed suites each with its own ensuite.
 
Guest accommodation spills out onto a deep north facing veranda and then on to the park-like gardens. Terrace seating enables guests to enjoy an outdoor breakfast or lap up the Hawke’s Bay sunshine with a glass of wine.

Dining

The dining experience at Greenhill The Lodge commences with pre dinner drinks and canapés followed by a table d’hote meal of four courses. The cuisine style combines local seasonal produce including seafood, meat, fruit and Greenhill herbs which complement the award winning Hawke’s Bay wines.

Dining is exclusive to guests in the grand, majestic dining room where guests usually dine together.

The Viewing Turret

The viewing turret is three stories high; guests may climb to the turret that sports a small sitting room complete with viewing telescope. A floor to ceiling window lifts up to provide egress to a balcony that affords a panoramic view of the Hawke’s Bay countryside and at night the lights of the Bay Cities.

The Billiard Room

The Billiard Room with its elegant wood panelling is furnished in grand style complete with a full size table.

In this room you can also enjoy a small library of New Zealand books or catch up with business, family or friends at home on the Internet.

Recreation

The old stables of the homestead have been converted into a gymnasium. This room affords a view of the hills which stretches for miles and takes in a Hawke’s Bay landmark, distinctive Te Mata Peak.

Guests may also enjoy an outdoor recreational area which incorporates a swimming pool, log fireplace and seating for guests to relax.

Activities:

The lodge is located within 30 minutes drive of Cape Kidnappers International Golf Course and over forty wineries with cellar door facilities.

Villa Suite

The Villa Suite, known as Little Greenhill, has two bedrooms. The first has an ensuite bathroom, a King size bed and French doors which open on to a private deck complete with an outdoor bath for the adventurous. The second bedroom has two king single beds and is adjacent to the villa’s second bathroom. Both bedrooms are luxuriously appointed with premium bed linen.

The elegant living area features a stone fireplace made from local greywacke river stone and comes equipped with flat screen television, DVD, stereo equipment and mini bar.

A dining area adjacent to the lounge has French doors which open on to expansive decking and rural views to die for!

The villa has its own full kitchen with tea and coffee making facilities. Air conditioning offers year round comfort.

The villa sleeps a maximum of four people and children are welcome.

McLean Suite

This King Suite consists of a bedroom, sitting room and twin bathrooms.

The McLean Suite is equipped with a King size bed with premium bed linen and black out curtains. The bedroom features a magnificent floor to ceiling window with hand painted leadlights which affords access onto the verandah.

Both bathrooms have marble tiles and under floor heating. In addition the suite has heat pumps which afford air conditioning or central heating as appropriate.

The sitting room is furnished with relaxed seating, writing desk and minibar. An open fireplace creates a cosy atmosphere in the winter months.

There are tea and coffee making facilities in the room. 

Hudson Room

This is the room in which her Majesty Queen Elizabeth, The Queen Mother slept on her state visit in February 1958.

This King room opens out through French Doors onto the generous north facing veranda and affords views of the picturesque gardens. A feature of this room is the ornate pressed iron ceiling.

The Hudson room is equipped with a King size bed with premium bed linen and black out curtains.

There are tea and coffee making facilities in the room. The ensuite bathroom has marble tiles and under floor heating. In addition the room has a heat pump which affords air conditioning or central heating as appropriate.

Sollitt Room

This King room features an exquisite lead light window of an English country vista. French Doors afford a view of the central courtyard and pottager herb garden. This is a delightful evening sun room.

The Sollitt room is equipped with a King size bed with premium bed linen and black out curtains.

There are tea and coffee making facilities in the room. The ensuite bathroom has marble tiles and under floor heating. In addition the room has a heat pump which affords air conditioning or central heating as appropriate. 

Lyons Room 

French Doors from the room afford a view of the central courtyard and pottager herb garden.

The Lyons room is equipped with a King size bed with premium bed linen and black out curtains. If required this bed may be detached to form two single beds for twin occupancy.

There are tea and coffee making facilities in the room. The ensuite bathroom has marble tiles and under floor heating. In addition the room has a heat pump which affords air conditioning or central heating as appropriate.
